Mwasalat launches Intelligent Transport System and Mwasalat app

With an aim to improve the efficiency of the public transport network in the sultanate, Mwasalat launched the Intelligent transport system on Tuesday.
On the occasion, a ceremony was held at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre under the patronage of H E Khamis Mohammed al Shamakhi, Undersecretary for Transport in the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
An official at Mwasalat said that the intelligent transport system aims to improve the efficiency of the public transport network, develop it using modern technologies and provide smart services to all segments of society.
“The system is considered the first of its kind in the Gulf region,” he said.
Bader Mohammed al Nadabi, acting CEO of Mwasalat, said, “The intelligent transport system will play a pivotal role in improving and developing the lines of the public transport network in the sultanate. The system, supported by artificial intelligence, will issue daily data and statistics on the movement of public transport users and their actual locations.”
Nadabi said the Mwasalat app plays a key role in facilitating the transportation of community members via public buses through electronic purchase of tickets using smart phones.
“The app also aims to provide complete details of transportation routes and main bus routes, and identifies the most prominent tourist attractions, commercial sites and government headquarters that are linked by public transport lines.”
He added that the app also provides all the necessary information about buses, and sends alerts of any dangers or obstacles on the roads.
“It will help drivers to communicate with the control center and report any emergency situation to be addressed immediately.”
